Frequently Asked Questions
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-hour, evidence-based auditory intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges. Using specially filtered music, it helps regulate the autonomic nervous system by stimulating the vagus nerve—supporting safety, connection, and emotional resilience.
What can SSP help with?
SSP is helpful for:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and depression
Autism and sensory sensitivities
Chronic stress or illness
Emotional reactivity and shutdown
Feeling stuck in fight, flight, or freeze states
Can I do SSP remotely?
Yes. I offer SSP remotely via Google Meet or Zoom. You’ll receive personalized support, co-regulation, and body-based coaching to help your system integrate the listening in a safe, gentle way—all from the comfort of your home.
What makes your approach to SSP unique?
I blend SSP with somatic coaching, nervous system education, and body-based tools drawn from over 25 years of trauma-informed bodywork. This is not just passive listening—it’s a guided, co-regulated experience that supports deep and lasting healing.
How many sessions will I need?
Every nervous system is different. Some people benefit from one round of SSP, while others return for additional rounds over time. We’ll co-create a plan that honors your pacing, capacity, and goals.
